Then I crashed into you like a runaway train

[Crashed-Daughtry]

so i had a pretty bad day today. i woke up, went to math recitation, and pretty much floundered around hopelessly on my quiz. but i didnt have physics lecture today to make up for the exam i had last night. so that was good. so i went to lunch with my roomski. and then i went to chem lab. which went reeeeeeeaaaalllly badly. time for a wee bit of chem ramble. our free radical solution somehow went bad in one week or it was not made right in the first place. so we had to borrow some off another group. which i could have dealt with since most groups had the same problem. but then we started mixing our previously diluted solutions that we made last week with the borrowed free radical solution so we could measure the absorbance when our TA walked by and said "oh wow... thats not good. none of the solutions are changing colors." upon further testing, we discovered that both of our stock samples were fine, but somehow all 12 of our dilutions were no good. how in the world does that happen? and what are the chances of that even happening? that 12 different dilutions made by 4 different people were all bad? really? so we had to scrap all our work and borrow data from another group. second lab, and already an epic fail.

so during lab i had gotten a couple texts, but due to our chem lab failure, i had ignored them. when lab was over, i checked them. i had a new text and a new picture message. i read the text first. it was from my roomie and it said "the snow removal people just hit your car." and i immediately flipped out. i looked at the picture but it was hard to see so i didnt know how bad the damage was. so, of course, i immediately call my mom. and i was flipping out all over the place. and she pnly made things worse cuz first she insinuated maybe i had parked wrong. which i hadnt. and then she said "kayla, stuff like this happens." which made me really mad, cuz i dont think she would feel the same way if it was her car. so i hung up even madder than before.

when i get home, i realize its not really that bad. its a scratch on my front bumper about the size of my hand, scraped all the way down to the body. so its noticeable, but it can be fixed. and so i calmed down a little, but im still mad. cuz even if its not that bad, its still the principle of the matter. what kinda retard hits a car? its not like my car was hiding. its not like my car just jumped in front of him either. but they offered to fix it. and you better believe im taking them up on the offer.

It's been a long time coming, but I know a change is gonna come.

[A Change is Gonna Come-Sam Cooke]

well people, barack obama took office today. january 20th 2009. a historical day. even though i did not personally vote for him, i think its really cool that i got to witness history be made. and even though i did not vote for him, i believe it is time to support him as the new leader of our country. he has a big job ahead of him fixing this nations problems, and he needs the people to support him now, instead of pettily criticizing him as some have been doing. we need to give him a chance to make policies, implement his procedures, and try to fix things his way before we start judging him to harshly. he also needs our patience and understanding. i worry that people have unrealistic expectations of him. even though he preached change, our system of government is constructed in such a way that makes change fairly difficult. it will take time. as much as he would like to, he cant possibly walk in and in one week fix all of our social and economic problems. he has a rough road ahead of him, and i do not envy him at all. i wish him the best of luck in his presidency.

Now don't you worry, this will only last a week or two.

[It Won't Be Like This for Long-Darius Rucker]

ok so i havent posted in a while. its a new year, a new semester. today, the first week of the new semester finished. i dunno about it. im not having a fun time in math really. or physics. chem is a little intimidating...am i really smart enough to design my own research project and then complete it? i dunno. speech seems ok. hopefully i can do well in my classes again this semester. we will see. my professors seems ok, well half of them do anyways. my chem prof seems pretty great. and my instructor for speech is really nice. my physics prof speaks english fairly well, but he stutters a twee bit. i havent met my math prof yet. he wasnt here the first week. the sub was a mumbly russian man that i could never understand. and i can understand my TAs too. so its not to bad really. i just have to get back into the swing of things. i havent really found a routine that works for me yet. i have to learn to balance my new hours and my classes and my hw. i signed up to close mon and tues, which doesnt leave me alotta time to do weds hw. and i picked up alotta shifts this week. so i always felt behind on my classwork. which really sucks. oh and i have to find time to eat. there are days this week i didnt eat for 12 hours cuz i have class through lunch then i go to work and dont want work food. oh and its really cold, which makes everything unpleasant. i also have to get my sleeping schedule straightened out. like now. i should go to bed now. night.

And I'm out on the edge of forever, ready to run

[Time of My Life-David Cook]

i went to visit jen this weekend. i had fun. i drove up on friday. my car acted up a bit. the dash lights are on the fritz. they blink on and off at random. its more of an annoyance than anything else. anyways, i drove up there all by myself. and didnt die :) and didnt get lost :D except when i was trying to find her apartment and kept turning right instead of left cuz i am directionally challenged :( me and jen grocery shopped, we indulged a lifelong wonder (we bought the squishy water filled baby teething rings to chew on. lemme tell you, they are really quite nice lol), i met her pet snake, noodle. he was funny and squiggly. we had a wing day. i met her new bf. he was funny. we went to the mall. and she introduced me to rally's fries. yummo. we ate alot of food. and we laughed alot. and in true jen-like fashion, she tried to smother me with a pillow in an effort to wake me up. i had a good time.
